Lipscomb Auto Center Bowie has a long history rooted in North Texas, dating back to 1979, when founder Richard Lipscomb took over the Chevrolet & Oldsmobile dealership in his hometown of Nocona, TX. A lifelong enthusiast of American vehicles, Richard entered the automotive business in the early 1970s, traveling to Indianapolis and Detroit with fellow car professionals to acquire pre-owned inventory for wholesale distribution to Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, and GMC dealers across Texas.

Shortly after establishing the dealership, operations moved to a larger facility on Highway 82 in Nocona. In the late 1980s, Lipscomb Chevrolet expanded by acquiring the Chevrolet dealership in Bowie, TX. The business was then relocated to Bowie, Montague County, where it continued to sell and service GM vehicles. Following the economic challenges of that era, the dealership invested in a newly constructed facility located north of Bowie along US Hwy 287 N.

In 1992, Lipscomb Auto Center officially celebrated its grand opening, offering sales and service for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, and GMC vehicles. This marked a new chapter built on Richard Lipscomb's dedication to customer relationships and his practical approach to the automotive business.

A few years later, Richard's oldest son, Rik Lipscomb, joined the dealership, continuing a path he began as a teenager working in the wash bay at the original Nocona location. By the late 1990s, Richard began transitioning leadership to Rik, allowing him to focus more on restoring the family ranch along the Brazos River and working on his personal collection of vehicles.

In 2006, Rik expanded the Lipscomb Dealerships' presence by adding Pruitt Ford in Burkburnett, TX, along with Lipscomb Chevrolet-Pontiac in Burkburnett. Today, Lipscomb Auto Center Bowie continues to serve drivers from Bowie, Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, Decatur, Weatherford, Jacksboro, Henrietta, Gainesville, Nocona, and the greater DFW area. The dealership remains focused on selling and servicing GM vehicles while maintaining long-term relationships with customers and team members alike.
